Renaming to Subtract

Posted by Mrs. Skwara | Posted in Our Posts | Posted on November 28, 2016

Tonight’s homework sometimes catches parents off-guard. Students have learned a new subtraction strategy that can help them when needing to subtract from a large number ending in 2 or more zeros. We practiced many times in class this morning and students are asked to practice it tonight for homework. In case the “at home help” section on the homework sheet isn’t clear enough, here is another example for you:

Cardboard Wanted!!!
As many of the students may have told you, we will be putting our recycling skills to the test as we attempt to create another famous BES Annual Recycled Arcade next Friday afternoon. Please send any cardboard (big or small) to school so that we have all the materials we need to be as imaginative as we are.
Although they will be making their plans and designs this week, the students will begin working on their projects next Tuesday with the goal to present them to the rest of the school next Friday afternoon (All work will be done at school).

If any parents would like to come in and help us out, we would love to have you next Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday afternoon from 1:45pm to 2:45pm.
